Consultation Services

We are a litigation firm. Most of our work involves representing clients in court. In some situations, however, clients:

  1. wish to bring a claim but first want to understand the chances of success, the procedure, and the likely costs, or
  2. are or may become defendants and wish to assess their position

In these situations, we offer consultation services.

Forms of Consultation

  • In person meetings at our office
    • Consultations are available Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm during office hours
  • Zoom video meetings
    • For overseas clients, consultation times can be adjusted flexibly.

Fees, Terms, and Important Notes

  • Rate: CAD $600 per hour, plus HST (updated for 2024).
  • Consultations are conducted by a partner of our firm.
  • If the meeting lasts longer than one hour, there is no extra charge for the first ten minutes; after that, additional time is billed on a pro rated basis according to the actual time used.
  • Before the consultation, we encourage clients to email us a brief summary of the matter, a timeline, and a list of questions. This helps improve efficiency and saves both time and cost.
  • Audio or video recording of the consultation is not permitted.

How to book a consultation

  1. Please email our office, or call us during office hours from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, or contact us through other social media apps.
  2. Please send an email or text message with the following information:
    1. the legal names of all persons involved in the matter
    2. your email address
    3. your mobile number
  3. Once we have confirmed that we can act, our office will send you two separate emails to you for an invoice and a consultation agreement. Please pay the invoice in full and sign the agreement.
  4. We will reserve your consultation time after we have received both payment and the signed agreement. Until payment is received, the requested time cannot be guaranteed.
  5. If you need to reschedule, please tell us at least one business day before the appointment and we will arrange a new time.
  6. If you need to cancel, please tell us at least one business day before the appointment for a full refund. If you cancel on the day of the appointment, the fee is non refundable.
